Cove Point LNG Export Facility Tour

Cove Point

The Conservative Climate Foundation hosted a site visit to Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s Cove Point LNG Export Facility in Calvert, Maryland. A dozen congressional staff and CCF supporters joined the tour to learn how BHE is working to increase global energy security with clean, reliable American liquified natural gas (LNG).

Cove Point has been exporting LNG since 2018 and employs more than 200 people in Calvert County, Maryland. With both U.S. and international customers, it is the only bidirectional facility in the United States. At Cove Point, they work to reduce emissions and increase efficiency through advanced engineering, including a first-of-its-kind start up gas recirculation system, a world-class leak detection program, and a waste heat and power cycle.

Cove Point

Since 2018, 500 ships containing 20 billion gallons of LNG have been exported, displacing dirtier fuels around the world and reducing global greenhouse gas emissions by 35.4 million metric tons – the equivalent of taking more than 8 million cars off the road.

Cove Point

Facilities like Cove Point are critical to achieving American energy dominance and a cleaner future. Thank you, Berkshire Hathaway Energy, for hosting!
