Policy Briefing: Republican Clean Energy & Climate Priorities in the 119th Congress

For the first policy briefing of 2025, the Conservative Climate Foundation (CCF) convened staff from the Conservative Climate Caucus to discuss Republican clean energy and climate priorities for the 119th Congress.  

Jake Tyner, Chief Counsel for the House Energy & Commerce Environment Subcommittee, and Rob MacGregor, Staff Director for the House Natural Resources Energy & Mineral Resources Subcommittee, joined to highlight how their respective committees are working to reduce emissions, boost American energy production, and strengthen energy security.  

CCF is proud to work with the Conservative Climate Caucus, whose 70+ members recognize the United States can and should balance innovation, energy security, and American job creation to ultimately leave the planet better than we found it. 

Jake outlined how Energy & Commerce Chairman Brett Guthrie (R-KY) plans to confirm statues like the Clean Air Act are working for American industry, ensure taxpayer dollars are being used efficiently, and strengthen grid resilience across the U.S.  

Rob shared Natural Resources Chairman Bruce Westerman’s (R-AR) plans to focus on federal permitting processes to unleash American energy, including renewables and low-carbon sources like geothermal energy, and improve onshore and offshore leasing plans for U.S. energy production and exports.  

When the United States produces energy and goods here at home, global emissions go down. Each of them also highlighted the importance of strengthening domestic critical mineral supply chains, from extraction to smelting and processing, and expressed excitement about emerging carbon capture technologies to reduce emissions from American industry and responsible development of energy resources like oil and natural gas.
